If Live View will not load, loads slowly, freezes, or shows poor video quality, try these steps.
Check the device is online
If a Ring device is offline, Live View will not work.
- Open the Ring app.
- Check whether the device tile shows as offline.
- Tap the device.
- Open Device Health.
- Check the device status and network signal.
If the device is offline, reconnect it to Wi-Fi from Device Health.
Make sure Live View is turned on
- Open the Ring app.
- Tap the menu.
- Tap Devices.
- Choose the Ring device.
- Tap Device Settings.
- Tap Video Settings.
- Make sure Live View is turned on.
Check the Wi-Fi signal and internet speed
Live View needs a stable internet connection. If the video is slow, blurry, or fails to load:
- Move the Ring device closer to the router for testing.
- Restart the router.
- Check whether other devices on the same Wi-Fi are also slow.
- Avoid using multiple routers unless they are correctly configured.
- Consider a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system if the signal is weak at the device location.
Check the phone or tablet
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Update the Ring app.
- Update your phone operating system.
- Turn off VPN apps while testing.
- Try Live View on another phone or tablet if available.
Check Ring app encryption settings
If End-to-End Encryption has been enabled, make sure you are using the same phone or tablet that was used to set it up.
If it still does not work
Power cycle or reset the Ring device, then reconnect it in the Ring app. If Live View still fails after the device is online with a good Wi-Fi signal, there may be a device fault or an account/app issue that needs further support.
